Pain

It visits any time, night or day,
And when it comes it’s as if to say,
“Anything you try will be in vain,
I am all-conquering, I am pain.”

At my shoulders it begins to drill,
Becoming so bad I can’t stay still;
It now commands my every thought,
I’m in its control, it has me caught.

Tonight I doubt I’ll get any sleep,
And as is usual time will creep,
Allowing my over active brain,
To fully benefit from the pain.
